PRIME CANDIDATE
“choose a side, this fall”Kevin Sweeney is running for president, and it is not going well. In order to boost his campaign, he brings Jane Timoney on board, a consultant known for being able to get the job done and the numbers needed. What she’s also known for: a very public and very scandalous affair with the Mayor of New York City, Dan Costello. She butts heads immediately with Sweeney’s people as they embark on the campaign trail in the lead-up to the November election — in particular, Sweeney’s righthand-man (and expected Chief of Staff should Sweeney win the election), Reg Duffy. Also working Sweeney’s campaign are the riotous pair of speechwriters, Augie Blando and Luisito Calderon, as well as the one ally Jane finds, Evrard Velerio, Sweeney’s deputy campaign manager.
Bad motel rooms, stretches of country without wi-fi, pancake breakfasts, public gaffes, hurricane season — the first season of this tongue-in-cheek, raunchy dramedy takes them through it all, starting with the Iowa Caucus.(The first season ends with election night, and Sweeney loses! What will season two bring when they all return to New York?!)
